By 2022, gas transportation has changed significantly. Previously, high-calorific gas was transported from East to West. In 2022, high-calorific gas flowed from West to East.

Security of supply of natural gas in the European Union has come under pressure in an unprecedented way during the past reporting year. The reason is a restriction in the supply of Russian natural gas.

Every year in January, GTS provides the State Secretary of Mines with advice on security of supply for the next gas year. This advice analyses the expected gas demand and supply.
